Forgotten Cookies

Are vintage recipes your thing? Try this Forgotten Cookie recipe! These sweet, egg white meringue cookies are considered "forgotten" because you "forget" them in your oven after turning it off, and let them continue to bake overnight.

Ingredients

  • 2 egg whites
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 6 oz. chocolate chips
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Beat egg whites. Add sugar and salt gradually. Beat until stiff. Add pecans and chocolate. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a cookie sheet.
  3. Place in oven and turn off heat. Leave overnight, or until cool.
